How far is Mirissa from the CMB airport?

Mirissa is located on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, 175 km from Colombo International Airport. The journey takes 2 -2.5 hours by car depending on traffic density.

How do I get to Mirissa from the airport?

The most comfortable way after a long flight is by taxi. If you want to save money, you can take a bus to Colombo (30 min.) and then expressway bus from Bastian Mawatha bus station to Matara (2,5 h) and from Matara take a bus to Mirissa (30 min.).

Do you organize a transfer from the airport to Mirissa?

Yes, we can organize airport transfers for a fee.
Price is 80 USD/ 2 pax, 100 USD/3-6 pax, more people on request.

Is Lily Mirissa on the beach?

Lily Mirissa is not directly on the beach but it is only 500 meters from the beach.

Do you offer a half board or full board option?

No, we don't offer lunch or dinner. We provide only breakfast. There are many dining options in Mirissa.

Are there any shops and restaurants nearby?

Yes, there are many restaurants within walking distance on the beach and on the main road including pizza restaurants. Cargills Food City supermarket is located 700 metres from Lily Mirissa.

Is tap water drinkable?

Yes, tap water in Lily Mirissa is drinkable. You can refill your own bottles with filtered water in the garden pavilion. Don't buy bottled water if not necessary and help us reduce plastic waste.

Do you have WiFi in Lily Mirissa?

Yes, we have WiFi and it is free.

Is there a doctor in Mirissa?

Yes, there is the International Medical Center (IMC MED Hospitals) in Mirissa on the main road close to Mirissa junction open 24 hours a day. Pharmacy is also there.

What is the best time to visit Mirissa?

The best time to visit Mirissa is from November to April. However, you can also visit Mirissa in other months, when the ocean will be rougher, but there will be significantly fewer tourists.

Is Mirissa beach good for swimming?

Yes, the main beach in Mirissa is one of the best for swimming on the south coast. Swimming at Parrot Rock in a smaller bay next to the main beach is very safe. But be cautious: strong currents and rough waves can occur, especially during monsoon. Always heed warning flags in the middle of the beach.

Are there many tourists in Mirissa?

Yes, there are many tourists in Mirissa during the high season. You can avoid them if you go to the beach in the morning after breakfast or late afternoon.

Mirissa is famous for its long sandy beach which is one of the most beautiful in Sri Lanka , whale watching, surfing, nightlife and parties on the beach and iconic photo spots like Parrot rock and Coconut tree hill.

What can we see around Mirissa?

You can visit the colonial fort of Galle and on the way turtle hutchery in Habaraduwa, handloom factory and ta factory, Unawatuna beach (1 h). You can observe elephants, animals and birds in the National parks Uda Walawe and Yala (both 2,5 h). Surfing for beginners is possible in Weligama (10 min.).

What about whale watching in Mirissa?

Whale and dolphin watching is very popular in Mirissa during November to April. Many whales can be spotted even in August and September. We can organize whale watching for you with our own boat.

How is snorkeling in Mirissa?

Snorkeling in Mirissa is not good, but you can snorkel with turtles in the second bay from the main beach. You will see more turtles if you go on a snorkeling boat trip to Matara.
